Airless Paint Sprayer Product Review

The Graco Magnum x7 is a light duty airless paint sprayer that is powered by a maintenance free, hardened stainless steel pump with a maximum spray pressure of 3000 PSI. As with most larger airless paint sprayers, the magnum x7 pumps paint directly from the paint container and delivers it to the spray handpiece via a 25 Foot Hose. This saves a lot of time because there is no need to keep refilling a paint cup like on smaller paint sprayers.

The magnum x7 has an auto-prime feature which makes it quick and easy to get started. This feature also eliminates any problems caused by debris left in the unit due to poor cleanup. You can also adjust the spray pressure easily and select different operating modes.

The unit itself weighs 26 pounds (12 kgs) and sits on a frame that has two heavy duty wheels which makes it very easy to wheel around. Also, there is a paint pail hook on the front of the machine which allows you to move the paint pail at the same time, minimizing spills. There is a also a sturdy handle that doubles as a hose rack and folds down for compact storage.

Whilst Airless Paint Sprayers will save you a lot of time, traditionally the most time consuming aspect was cleaning the machine. However, with the Magnum x7, even this side of things has been made quicker by the power flush cleaning adapter. Essentially, all you need to do is connect your garden hose to the suction siphon of the sprayer and pump fresh water through the unit - Job Done!

For the technically minded, the Graco Magnum x7 will spray.31 Gallons per minute, the maximum spray tip size is.017 inch, and the 5/8th horsepower motor will run off a standard houshold power outlet or a 1500 Watt Generator.

If you are still a bit daunted about the idea of airless spraying then don't worry - the Graco Magnum x7 even comes with an instructional DVD which covers the setup, spraying and cleanup steps. Once you master the art of using a paint sprayer you will never look back. And best of all you will get your weekends back!

Garage Floor Paint

Garage Floor Paint

Many people neglect their floors in the garage, which usually ends up in the cracking of the concrete floors, mildew growth and other unwanted problems. Perfect garage floors can be achieved with the right choice of garage floor paint, the right preparation and proper application of the product.

Garage Floor Paint

To prepare garage floors for painting the floors have to be cleaned with a compound such as TSP and washed properly. The trick is to let the floors dry completely before painting them. There is a simple way of checking when your concrete or other porous floors are ready to be painting. Take a piece of plastic and tape it to the floor from all sides. Let it stay for no more than twenty-four hours. Condensation on the plastic will mean it still has moisture inside. Dry plastic, however, will mean it is ready for next step - painting.

When you choose your paint make sure to take the paint that is specific for garage floors. If you will purchase regular floor paint it will peel off because of the high temperature and friction of car Tires. Most of the stores carry latex and oil paints for garage floors. Oil paint will create a harder and more durable finish; however in general, oil paints are more slippery. Latex paint contains lower level of VOC and dries Faster.

Application should be done with a high quality roller. Temperature should not be less than 10 degrees or more than 20 degrees. Ideally, it is best to let the paint cure before using the floors. For oil paints curing time is usually more than latex applications.

With the right garage floor paint your concrete floors will stay protected and look great for a long time to come.

Many Airless spray units are powered by a large main pumping unit, that is carried or wheeled around. This main unit pumps the paint to the spraygun handpiece via a lengthy spray hose. This system is ideal for large painting tasks because of the large volumes of paint needed. However, a large spraygun is not always required for smaller tasks. This is where the Graco TrueCoat Pro comes in handy.

To begin, you simply line the paint cup with a disposable plastic liner. This enables you to easily dispose of unused paint at the end of your project and greatly reduces the time it takes to clean up. Next, you fill the cup with paint, re-attach the cup to the Unit, prime the pump (which takes 3 seconds) and you're ready to spray.

The Graco TrueCoat Pro is perfect for inside and outside painting tasks, including fences, walls, weatherboards, architraving, doors etc. It will spray a variety of materials including acrylic and oil based paints, primers, stains, varnishes, Latex paints, Enamels and Urethanes. Best of all, thinning the paint is not compulsory with the Truecoat Pro System.

As a rule cleaning up a spraygun can take up a lot of your precious time. However, the task of cleaning the TrueCoat is basic. First you simply remove the plastic liner from the cup. Next, fill the cup with water and flush it through the pump. Finally, replace the water with the pump armour solution (to increase pump life) and ... Cleaning is complete!

A great advanTAGe of the TrueCoat Pro is that is easy to use and doesn't require long leads or large machines to power it, however keep in mind that each battery will only spray around 1 Gallon of paint (3.8 ltrs) The spray package comes complete with two 18 Volt re-Chargeable batteries, recharge time being about 45 minutes per battery. This is fine for humble projects, but it obviously would not be suitable for continuous spraying of dozens of gallons of paint.

The benefits of Airless spraying are endless. All in all, you cannot beat the satisfaction that the Airless spray technique delivers when doing those painfull painting Jobs. When using airless sprayguns, never forget to wear a respirator and protect surrounding objects from overspray.

All in all, an airless spraygun unit is an essential addition to anyone's tool kit, especially if you don't like the idea of wasting your life by painting the old fashioned way.

Basement Paint Color Ideas

Basement Paint Color Ideas

You are redesigning your baseMent and you need to pick out the right colors to paint the walls. Since the baseMent is probably one of the darkest rooms in the house, picking the right colors to paint it is very important. The color (s) you choose can determine whether your basement becomes the warm exciting room you envision or the gloomy underbelly of the house.

When you sit down to choose the color you want your basement, you may want to think about these ways we respond to different colors:

Black

Black usually stands for darkness and despAir and it is often associated with death. The color black absorbs light and unless you want your basement to be a depressing place, black should be used sparingly.

White

Much the opposite ofblack, white reflects almost 85% of light. White tends to make rooms seem brighter and larger than rooms painted with other colors. Unfortunately, white walls are easily the most vulnerable to scraping and marking.

Red

The darker shades of red create a sense of warmth. Red also acts to stimulate and energize so it can be a very exciting and vibrant color for a basement. The brighter reds may counterbalance the neutral colors and add life and excitement to the room.

Orange

Orange has some of the same characteristics of red. The brighter the orange the more lively while in the room becomes softer orange tends to make the room more warm and welcoming.

Green

Green can work to balance red and orange. For a basement, a darker shade ofgreen will work much the same as black. It is probably best to stay away from the darker greens and and stay with the lighter shades.

Blue

Blue is said to calm the nervous system and can soften bright rooms. Much like green, if a very dark shade of blue is used it ends up with the same effect as black. The lighter shades of blue make people feel peaceful and comforted.

Yellow

Yellow is a fantastic color that is cheery and stimulating. Lighter yellows work to make rooms feel larger but if overused, it can be too stimulating. Yellow is best used in combination with another color.

An Overview of the Airless Sprayer and How it Works

Instead of using compressed air to push material out of the spray gun, airless sprayer an uses a piston pump to draw the paint up through the tube and push it through the hose where it is as atomized at the gun and forced out through the tip in a mist. This allows the user to spray thicker materials than most spray guns could handle, as well as produces less overspray.

There are four essential parts to airless sprayers. There is the pump, which canbe one of two kinds, piston or diaphragm. Both pumps perform the same function, but rely on different mechanisms to build necessary pressure. The high pressure hose used is designed to withstand the pressure built up by the pump. The gun comes in a range of grip styles with all being either 2 or 4 finger models. The tip, which regulates paint flow and fan pattern size, comes in a variety of sizes.

Whether you are a do-it-yourselfer looking to spruce up your house, or a paint contractor trying to make your blow and go production blow and go just a bit Faster, there is an airless sprayer designed to fit your needs. Anyone looking to buy an airless sprayer should do some shopping around to find exactly the right model. Some of the more popular brands of spray guns areGraco, Binks, Devibliss, Fuji, and Wagner.

Words of Caution

Airless sprayers should always be cleaned immediately after each use. The tip on the spray gun has a very late opening and the smallest deposits can easily clog it up. For the same reason, all materials should be strained before use.

Take some time before you begin your project to work out your spraying technique and distance away from surface. If you are not familiar with using such a gun you will find yourself causing headaches and messes if you just jump right in without getting the hang of it first.

These sprayers come with different price ranges and they can cost anywhere between 0 to ,000 depending on the type of project to be undertaken and the amount of horse power required. All said and done, before settling for a particular spray gun one should check the air and fluid controls to make sure that they work perfectly.

You should also ensure that the gun is easy to clean. I would go for a gun that makes spraying a pleasure all the time. After you are done with the Job of painting it is usually advisable to unPlug the gun and release the pressure trapped inside. These is done to avoid accidents that might happen if it is unPlugged by someone else. As a precaution it would also be advisable to keep it out of the reach of children all the time.
